Currently, the Faculty of Law is composed of the undergraduate deparment of Law with more than 1000 students and almost 600 graduates, two (2) Master’s programs, a Doctorate program and multiple continuing education programs, and with a challenging strategic project that seeks to push us to be a Faculty recognized nationally and internationally.
That is why, as part of the strategic objectives of the faculty, set in January 2023, we intend the participation of students in activities complementary to their academic development, especially in the international arena with emphasis on the network of Jesuit universities, with the firm purpose of delivering a differentiating seal, training lawyers connected to international legal topics, dilemmas and realities, a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of debate and formation of the law, as well as the process of education and training of a lawyer. Likewise, it is necessary to generate the conditions that allow the student to make contact with other legal cultures, so that they can understand and apply the lessons that from comparative law can be useful for our local reality.
Additionally, in the postgraduate field, our faculty also promotes internationalization in the search for alliances with prestigious institutions, with emphasis on the network of Jesuit universities, and the promotion of globalized legal research.
In the last 20 years, more than 300 law students at the Alberto Hurtado University have carried out research and work internships, student exchanges, participated in international competitions or congresses in various countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Spain, the United States, the Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Africa and Uruguay
Based on the new strategic planning 2023 – 2030, the strengthening of internationalization has been defined as one of the most strategic projects of this period.
The project seeks to provide a global training experience to undergraduate and graduate students and to promote the international visibility of the research carried out by the Faculty.
