International Academics, Researchers, and Doctoral Students

The UAH international team promotes agreements and internationalization alternatives for academics, researchers, doctoral students, and staff, offering opportunities for exchange, collaboration, and research, as well as management support for both those who come to the UAH and those who travel abroad.

Currently, 21,325 of Migration and Immigration, specifically through its Art. 143, establishes the bases for the procedure for recognition and revalidation of studies (professional or technical) carried out abroad.

  • The procedure is free and can be carried out online through the platform of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Individuals must complete the form and attach all required documentation.
Once the application is sent, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will review the application. If the documents sent meet the requirements and correspond correctly, applicants must then schedule an interview and deliver the original documents and an authorized copy of the complete file.
Once the interview has been completed and the documents have been delivered, the certificate will be ready. This certificate will be sent to the email address registered by the applicant. The document will have an Advanced Electronic Signature, and can be downloaded and verified on the same degree recognition platform.
  • What documents are needed to complete the procedure?
    • Professional title that is properly apostilled or legalized.
    • Original transcript of grades for the degree, properly apostilled or legalized, that is issued by the university or higher education center where student has taken approved subjects and/or completed internships.
    • Original certificate, properly apostilled or legalized, proving the legal existence of the university, issued by the higher education regulatory body.
    • For Chileans a photocopy of identification card is needed. As for foreigners, a passport photocopy is needed (only the pages on which the photograph, personal data and validity appear).
  • Who can grant these recognitions in Chile?
    • Only Chilean education institutions that have a minimum of five years of accreditation and are, preferably, state institutions or have a recognized track record.
  • Can professional and technical titles from any country be validated?
    • The procedure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can be carried out if the title was obtained in one of the countries with which Chile has entered into bilateral or multilateral treaties, which are the following:
      • Brazil
      • Peru
      • Uruguay
      • Bolivia
      • Costa Rica
      • El Salvador
      • Guatemala
      • Honduras
      • Nicaragua
  • What happens to degrees that are obtained in other countries?
    • For the recognition of degrees awarded in Argentina, Ecuador, Spain, the United Kingdom or Northern Ireland, the process must be carried out with the Ministry of Education (Mineduc). More information here.
  • For professional titles obtained in other countries, you must check Universidad de Chile Titles and Degrees Office.
