Engineering

The mission of the new School of Engineering is to teach highly trained engineers, committed to sustainable development and innovation, capable of addressing the current and future challenges of society and industry with an ethical, technical and human approach. Under the auspices of the Jesuit tradition and the comprehensive training in social sciences and humanities that the Alberto Hurtado University has developed.

The new UAH Faculty of Engineering (FIN) currently has two programs:

  1. Industrial Civil Engineering: The Industrial Civil Engineering degree aims to train people who can actively participate in the resolution of complex problems that require in-depth knowledge in engineering sciences. The degree provides tools for the design, analysis and improvement of integrated systems that produce or provide technical, economic and environmentally sustainable products and/or services, through digital transformation. At UAH you will learn to integrate digital technologies into company processes and to build new business models.
  2. Civil Engineering in Computer Science: The Computer Engineering degree aims to train people who can actively participate in the resolution of complex problems, from where they can apply computer science principles, designing and implementing computer solutions that transform and impact people’s quality of life. At UAH you will learn to integrate digital technologies into company processes and to build new business models.

The Faculty of Engineering of the Alberto Hurtado University (FIN-UAH), was founded in 2022, with the aim of training professionals with a solid technical and disciplinary base, with a social and humanistic approach to respond to the challenges of sustainable development in a complex and changing world.

FIN-UAH appropriates the educational model of the Alberto Hurtado University focused on Humanities, Education and Social Sciences under the concept: “Humanity needs Engineering and Engineering needs Humanity”.

The focus of the internationalization of the faculty is to appropriate the identity seal of the Jesuit institutions in order to promote a global perspective within the training of future engineers, adhering to the values of social justice, leadership and service to others, emphasizing the ethical practice of the profession and responsible technological innovation.

Our commitment is to promote interaction and collaboration between engineering and other disciplines to address global challenges in a comprehensive way, incorporating the global perspective in the different subjects through the integration of cultural, social, ethical and gender aspects.

Likewise, we seek to link nationally and internationally with institutions that share the desire to develop collaborative research, which favors participation in conferences and also intercultural learning experiences.

The Department of Engineering incorporates in all its work the component of linking with the environment and linking with industry, especially to generate practical experiences designed to imitate real-world situations. It is vitally important to generate mutually beneficial alliances to provide our future professionals with significant learning experiences and to propose an articulation with the productive development centers that exist nationally and internationally.

As the academic project of the Department of Engineering is consolidated, we will promote the realization of exchange programs and programs with the social service component with the focus on immersive experiences that integrate the technical component with cultural understanding by applying engineering tools and skills to address the challenges of society in different contexts.

The Department of Engineering of the Alberto Hurtado University is part of the International Association of Engineering Schools of Jesuit Universities, and also of the International Association of Jesuit Universities worldwide.
